Hostel Regulations
- Curfew & Security: Midnight curfew, requiring students to return before 12:00AM.
- Prohibited Items & Activities: Smoking, alcohol, drugs, and firearms are strictly prohibited.
- Cooking & Appliances: Cooking and using high-voltage electrical appliances (heaters) in rooms are forbidden.
- No Perching: Subletting or allowing a non-resident student to stay in a room is strictly prohibited and can lead to eviction. Any resident who harbors, keeps, or accepts an unauthorized person/student in his or her room will lose his/her residency as well as forfeit the residential fees paid. Furthermore, all members of the room will lose their residential status, if they are found to be involved
- It is PROHIBITED to give up one’s bed either for free or for financial reward. Any resident who gets involved in such an act, when caught, will face the hostel’s disciplinary processes and shall be sanctioned by an outright dismissal from the hostel and forfeiture of residential fees.
- Failure to report roommates who breach any of the regulations shall be considered an act of collusion and may result in the immediate revocation of the residential status of all occupants of the room.
- Failure to report violations is considered collusion and may lead to loss of residency.
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Students are responsible for cleaning their rooms and keeping shared areas tidy. Defacing walls (fixing pictures, painting) is prohibited.
- Noise Control: Residents are not to engage in acts that create a nuisance, such as loud music, drumming, or shouting.
- Damages: Residents are liable to pay for the repair or replacement of any broken furniture or fixtures.
- A student who vacates his/her room on his own during the semester shall not be entitled to any refund.
- In view of the abolishment of the Breakages and damages fee, resident would pay for any maintenance work done on their behalf.
- Residents are not to engage in any act which amounts to a nuisance or inconvenience to other users of the premises including drumming, whistling, noise-making, quarreling, fighting, shouting, etc. Smoking in the rooms or inside the hall, the use of and dealing in narcotic drugs or other banned substances, or harboring any person who engages in criminal activities under the laws of Ghana is strictly prohibited. Offenders shall be sanctioned including being expelled from the hall without a refund of residential fees paid.
- Violating rules can lead to fines, suspension, or immediate expulsion from the hostel without a refund of fees.
Reserved Rights of Patience Hostel
In this Agreement, Patience Hostel reserves the right:
- To enter any room for the inspection, repairs, cleaning, inventory of health or safety hazards, or other emergencies.
- To change or cancel your assigned room in the interest of order.
- To levy and collect charges for:
- Damages to room, furnishings, and/or building
- Unauthorized use of room, furnishings, and/or building
- Alterations of any room, furnishings, and/or building facilities
- Special cleaning necessitated by improper or unreasonable care of room, furnishings, and/or building
- Disciplinary actions arising out of breaching rules, regulations, policies, andprocedural information of the hall.
- To cancel the Agreement for the protection of other residents/students
Vacation Rules and Procedure
Vacation stay is not automatic for residents
- Every resident must vacate his/her room at the end of the period for which payment has been made and duly signed out.
- For the avoidance of doubt, residents must vacate the rooms not later than two (2) days after the published date for the end of the Semester by the University after which non-compliant students will be fined.
- Any resident who intends to stay in his/her room beyond the two (2) days grace period from the date of the end of the semester as may be published must regularize the same with the Senior Tutor by paying appropriate vacation fees in full before the expiration of the two-days grace period.
- Residents must always ensure their rooms are left tidy upon vacation of the room.
- Residents are responsible for taking custody of the possessions they bring into the hostel. Neither the hostel nor the university shall be responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of Residents through whatever means, and in whatever form.
Loss Of Property
Patience hostel shall not be responsible for any losses or damages regarding any personal property of students regardless of the cause(s) of said losses or damages.

Student Resident Safety & Security Responsibilities
- Maximum of two (2) refrigerators/microwaves per room.
- The following are not allowed to be used in student rooms:
- Washing machines
- Dishwashers
- Gas cookers/cylinders
- Air fryers, ovens, deep fryers
Residents are responsible to adhere to all safety regulations and notify the staff of Patience Hostel of any misuse or abuse of equipment that is prohibited under this Agreement.
Indemnification
Patience Hostel shall not be liable or responsible to residents for any loss or damage to any property or person occasioned by theft, the act of God, public enemy, ejection, riot, strike, insurrection, or order of government. Residents shall indemnify, defend and hold UGEL harmless from and against any and suits losses, liabilities, actions, and costs.
